Rhinoplasty - FAC

Improve Your Appearance with Rhinoplasty

Reasons to Consider a Rhinoplasty

There are several reasons why rhinoplasty is one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery that is performed today. One of the main reasons is that it can drastically improve the appearance of an individual’s face. Think about the location of the nose. It is right in the middle of the face. Any issue with the nose can completely throw off a person’s facial symmetry. Even small changes can do a lot to help a person look better as well as improve their self-confidence.

Are There Variations Of a Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty surgery time varies from patient to patient. Depending on the issue that you are dealing with and the results you would like to see, our surgeon will either use an open or closed technique. There are variations in the procedure that we offer here at Facial Aesthetic Concepts. Other than traditional rhinoplasty, we offer tip-plasty and septoplasty. Tip-Plasty is a procedure where our surgeon would focus on tip of the nose and the lower third of the nose. Septoplasty focuses on the septum, which is the cartilage structure between the right and left nostrils.

Modern-day cosmetic surgeons can do a lot when it comes to reshaping the nose. At times, surgeons will remove or rearrange cartilage in the nose. If your nose has a hump in it, too big or has been broken in the past, this form of cosmetic surgery can be used in order to help you feel more satisfied with the way your nose looks.

What to Expect When Getting a Rhinoplasty

It is important for all rhinoplasty candidates to understand that as soon as the surgery has been performed, they are not necessarily going to see the results immediately. After the surgery, you may have a bit of swelling. You’re also going to need to wear a nasal splint.

While rhinoplasty is at times used for medical purposes, particularly to help individuals improve their breathing, it is used nowadays to help people improve the way they look. Your nose determines a lot about how other people view you and how you see yourself. If you want to change and improve the way your nose looks, rhinoplasty may be right for you. The only way to find out if you’re a good candidate for rhinoplasty is to come in and see our medical team. Contact us today to make an appointment in San Clemente, Aliso Viejo or Rancho Santa Margarita office!

Chemical Peel - FAC

Light Chemical Peel for Skin Rejuvenation with No Downtime

It's surprising how some celebrities do not seem to age over the years. Take a celebrity, for example, who was popular in the 1980’s. They’re in a movie now in the mid-2000’s, and they look like they’ve only aged a couple of years. You sit there, wondering to yourself, "what is their secret?!" Well, the truth is, they do not have a secret. In fact, what they are using to keep their skin looking refreshed is something that millions of people around the world are using to improve the overall appearance of their skin. We’re talking about chemical peels.

Chemical Peels Nowadays

When you think about chemical peels, it’s easy to get a little nervous. One of the reasons people feel nervous when they talk about chemical peels is because they associate chemical peels with those very invasive procedures that remove a lot of their skin.

The truth is that most cosmetic professionals shy away from doing those invasive chemical peels nowadays. While they appreciate the benefits of these previous chemical peels, they also understand the potential negative side effects.

Cosmetic professionals are focusing on lighter, milder chemical peels these days. These still offer stellar results, but they don’t have any of the risk or side effects that the deeper chemical peels offer.

Light chemical peels work perfectly for both men and women. They are the ideal treatment for a person who wants to restore their youthful glow.

Benefits of Chemical Peels

One of the benefits of a light chemical peel is that it increases cell turnover. This in turn minimizes the effects of hyperpigmentation. Your skin is mildly exfoliated, and it leaves you with a nice appearance.

Really, the term chemical peel can leave you with the wrong impression about the procedure. It is true that during a chemical peel, chemicals are applied to your skin, but nothing is peeled off.

Instead, what happens is the chemical solution affects the upper layer of your skin. As the skin heals itself, new fresh tissue emerges. This leaves you with smooth looking skin.

A light chemical peel has many benefits. One of the benefits is that it reduces fine lines and wrinkles. There are a lot of topical creams available that promise to do this, but the effects of these creams are negligible. And they are almost nonexistent when compared to the results you get after using a chemical peel.

Chemical peels are a lot less invasive, and a lot faster than any surgical procedure. With a light chemical peel, you can have the procedure done and go back to your everyday activities with a beautiful face you will be proud to show off to the world. Contact Facial Aesthetic Concepts to schedule your appointment. Get started today!

What is BLU-U Therapy?

BLU-U is an innovative treatment which can help you fight back against acne. Since BLU-U therapy uses light and doesn’t require drugs, the side effects aren’t nearly as harsh, and depending on your situation, the results can be great.

BLU-U therapy effectively targets the bacteria that cause acne, which are known as P. acne. The treatment is simple and requires the use of blue light in order to kill the unwanted bacteria.

BLU-U Therapy Compared to Topical Treatments

Although topical treatments can work well for combating acne, they’re not ideal for everyone. Unlike other topical treatments, BLU-U light therapy doesn’t take weeks to deliver results. Another reason why many patients prefer BLU-U therapy over topical treatments is because light therapy doesn’t require daily use of topical applications.

A Look at BLU-U Therapy

During the procedure, which is performed in the comfort of our office, a blue light is positioned near your face. You’ll need to wear a pair of goggles (provided) during the treatment, which is very safe. The blue light doesn’t cause any discomfort.

The treatment is based on narrow-band, high-intensity blue light, and it’s effective for treating mild to moderate acne. The device that produces the blue light doesn’t use a laser or UV rays. The P. acnes that cause acne live inside of your skin’s sebaceous glands, and they’re known to cause acne breakouts. Depending on your situation, we might add a special agent to your skin, which makes the blue light more effective.

What About the Results?

When you’re finished with the treatment, you can immediately return to your daily routine, and for optimal results, you need to undergo a series of regularly scheduled treatments. Many patients notice a major improvement in their acne for several months, but to sustain the results, we recommend undergoing maintenance treatments.

If you’re dealing with unwanted changes in skin tone or texture, you could benefit from BLU-U therapy. It’s also a top treatment option for active acne, non-pitted acne scars and large pores. Whether you’d like to fight back against sun-damaged skin, actinic keratoses or acne, BLU-U therapy can likely help.

The team at Facial Aesthetic Concepts wants to help you get rid of your acne. Contact us today to schedule a consultation.

Kybella - FAC

Reasons to Consider Kybella Injections

Kybella® is one of the most effective ways to get rid of a double chin. The treatment involves making several injections in the area under the chin. Over the course of a couple of weeks, the ingredients that are contained in the Kybella® solution rupture the fat cells. Then the body gets rid of these ruptured fat cells naturally. As a result, the person’s double chin disappears. So, what are some good reasons to consider getting Kybella® injections?

There are many people who have an overall slim figure yet are still dealing with a double chin. If you are in this situation, have you ever thought about how this can cause you to look heavier than you really are? When most people look at you, they first see your face and neck. They just assume that you are a little bit overweight without even looking at the rest of your body. If you feel like you are treated in a negative way because of this or would just like to improve your overall appearance, you may want to consider Kybella® injections.

Another reason why you should consider Kybella® injections is if you were overweight at one time and have lost weight but are not able to get rid of your double chin by just exercise and a low-calorie diet. Unfortunately, your double chin may be one of those problem areas on your body. You may have lost a lot of weight everywhere else, but you simply cannot get rid of the fat under your chin on your own. Kybella® can help you get rid of that double chin and reach your overall weight loss goals.

You may consider getting Kybella® injections because you have a special event coming up in your life or because you are finally ready to do something to improve your overall appearance. For example, if you are going to be getting married soon and the only thing on your mind is how you will look with excess fat underneath your chin, now would be a great time to start Kybella® injections. You could also be in a situation in which you are just ready to do something nice for yourself. Perhaps you have had a couple of kids and would like to do a makeover. Part of this makeover can include treating your double chin.

The best thing about choosing Kybella® injections is that there is very little required of you. You come into our office for the treatments. You are situated comfortably in a chair where you will be able to recline. We will give you the injections, and then you can go back to your everyday activities. Over the next few weeks, you will notice that you have less fat under your chin. You may need a few treatment sessions in order to reach your goals, which we will discuss with you in more detail during your consultation.

Kybella® injections can help you conquer your double chin for good. The experts at Facial Aesthetic Concepts will be happy to help you find out if this is the right treatment for you. Contact us at any of our offices in San Clemente, Aliso Viejo or Rancho Santa Margarita to schedule your consultation and get started.

Eyelid Surgery - FAC

Pinch Technique for Eyelid Surgery with Less Downtime

Is one of the first things you notice when you look in the mirror, your eyelids? All of a sudden they are "sagging." Have you wondered what causes the skin to sag in the first place? You may have also given some thought to whether anything can be done about it.

Many people choose to have their eyelids tightened through eyelid surgery. Some folks are apprehensive about facing surgery and the associated downtime, but would desire the restoration of their youthful appearance.

What Causes Your Eyelids To "Sag"

As we age, our bodies produce less collagen. That substance is what helps to hold things together and give the skin its fullness and tightness. When there is less of it, the results show up in the form of sagging skin and wrinkles. The skin also loses some of its flexibility during this stage of life because the body produces less elastin also.

How To Correct "Saggy" Eyelids

The surgical procedure during which excess skin is removed from the eyelids is called a blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery. While it can be done for cosmetic reasons, it can be done to help with peripheral vision also. As the eyelids begin to sag, they can do so to the point that they actually hang over the eye itself and block some of the individual’s vision. The procedure can also be done to help with droopy lower eyelids if the white part of the eye below the iris is showing as a result. It can also help to remove the appearance of bags under the eyes. It all depends on your unique situation.

The Different Techniques

The lower eyelid pinch technique can be done to remove excess skin from the lower eyelids. It is an improved method over in which the surgeon removes the lower fat bags. The old technique is an invasive procedure that carries with it a significant risk of complications, like the pulling down of the lower eyelid following the surgery. This is known as an eyelid retraction.

The pinch technique uses a method that is less invasive and consequently involves less downtime for the patient. To do this, the surgeon uses a tool to pinch the skin of the eyelid into a ridge just below the eyelashes. The excess skin is then removed and the remaining skin is put back together. Since the pinch method only removes excess skin, it is sometimes done in conjunction with other procedures to take care of additional cosmetic or functional issues.

If you have struggled with sagging eyelids and, until now, have been nervous about having something done about them, you might consider having a discussion with the team at Facial Aesthetic Concepts about the ways the pinch technique for eyelid surgery can benefit you. We can explain the details of how it is done and give you a better idea of what to expect. It could be the answer you have been awaiting, but thought would never be available to you. Contact us today to schedule your consultation for eyelid surgery.

Radiesse® vs Restylane®: What is the Difference?

There are so many cosmetic products on the market today that, quite frankly, it’s easy for a person to get overwhelmed. And what makes the situation more challenging is the fact that there are multiple products that to do virtually the exact same thing. So the question is, how do you distinguish one product from another?

For example, what is the difference between Radiesse® vs Restylane®? Both of these products are dermal fillers, yet each of them is designed to work in a specific area.

Many cosmetic professionals will only use Radiesse® when they are addressing nasolabial folds. When compared to Juvederm® or Restylane®, Radiesse® has been shown to last longer. The downside is that because of the way it is formulated, it needs to be injected deeper into the treated area to produce the desired effects.

Some cosmetic professionals prefer Restylane® because it is a hyaluronic acid filler. Although the gel is made in a laboratory, it is made of a substance that is found naturally in the human skin. The results are softer and more natural.

Something that cosmetic experts and many patients also like about using Restylane® is that its results are reversible. A medical professional can give you an injection, and if you want to change anything about the way your face looks after the injection, the expert can reverse the treatment in a matter of minutes.

Really, you can make a lot of comparisons between the pros and cons of Radiesse® vs Restylane®. However, at the end of the day, it’s up to the cosmetic professional and you as a patient to determine which dermal filler you feel is right for you.

Something that you will see consistently when you talk to cosmetic professionals is that they all agree that both Restylane® and Radiesse® are high-quality products. They have seen positive results in their patients by using these products.

One thing that is more important than the dermal filler that you use is the training and the skill of the cosmetic professional who applies it. In the hands of an untrained surgeon, even the best dermal filler can produce poor results.

At Facial Aesthetic Concepts, our talented, well-trained professionals have the skills and experience to give you amazing results. Working together with our cosmetic experts will help you determine which dermal filler is right for you. We have locations in Rancho Santa Margarita, Aliso Viejo and San Clemente. Contact us today to schedule your consultation to learn more.

Fractional Facial Aesthetic Concepts

What is Fractional CO2?

Are you looking for a way to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and improve your overall look and texture of the skin on your face, neck, or chest?

The field of cosmetic surgery is now able to use advanced tools like ultrasonic waves and laser light to achieve stunning results. Fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing is one of the best ways to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and other skin imperfections while also encouraging the production of collagen in the skin.

As we and are exposed to years of sun damage and environmental pollutants, the collagen in our skin gets damaged and sometimes destroyed. Collagen is important — it is a protein in our connective tissues that help keep our skin firm, plump and free of lines.

If you have been looking for a non-surgical way to enhance your appearance, then it is a good idea for you to know what Fractional CO2 lasers are, how it works and why it may be a more effective treatment than other methods.

What Is a Fractional CO2 Laser?

A Fractional CO2 laser utilizes a high-energy laser light divided into tiny columns. These columns selectively target tissue while leaving nearby areas undamaged to foster faster healing. The light itself can be altered to selectively target healthy cells, or changed to alter cells in a fashion similar to chemical peels. This allows it to provide varying results designed to effectively rejuvenate the face by removing undesirable tissue.

How Does a Fractional CO2 Laser Work?

The laser light is the main mechanism in a Fractional CO2 laser. It introduces light containing high amounts of energy, which passes through certain cells while transforming into heat. This heat causes a safe destruction of cells at a cellular level. The destruction of these cells is important as it enables the body to regenerate them. Once the old skin cells are affected, new cells will be formed to replace them. New cells equals fresh face!

Why Can Fractional CO2 Laser Treatment Offer Better Results?

Besides the major benefit of reduced healing times, there are a quite a few other benefits that make this treatment more preferable for patients to undergo. These benefits include:

  • Effectively treating skin conditions – Everything from light wrinkles to age spots can be treated with the right Fractional CO2 laser. This can provide lasting rejuvenation to the face with a more overall youthful appearance.
  • Improving blood flow to the skin – The selective damage to the skin encourages blood flow to the face. This can help with numerous conditions, such as minor cases of rosacea and acne. As we know, blood flow encourages healing.
  • Generating new, healthy skin – This treatment can rejuvenate entire areas of your skin. This happens after old, unattractive skin has been affected, which in turn produces an even greater result.
  • Stimulating collagen production – The last major benefit of this treatment is the way that it can stimulate collagen production. This can reverse light to moderate signs of aging while slowing the progression of further lines and wrinkles.
  • Enhancing Skin tone & texture - With resurfacing you skin, you are ultimately helping to rejuvenate your skin tone and texture. Reaffirming that youthful glow.
