Breast Lift

Women may desire a breast lift because of the changes that have taken place in their breasts due to weight gain, pregnancy, age, gravity or heredity. The results are firmer breasts that no longer sag.

You will receive either intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Your surgeon will make incisions. The most common area for incisions is around the areola. The underlying breast tissue is lifted and reshaped which improves breast contour and firmness. The nipple and areola will then be repositioned. Excess skin around the breast may also be removed. The incisions are then closed up. Results of surgery can be seen immediately.

There are some risks associated with breast lift surgery. Your surgeon will discuss these with you and provide instructions should complications arise during recovery. As with any surgery, there is a general risk of infection and a reaction to anesthesia. Your doctor will examine your medical history and conditions to reduce these risks.

You will be required to wear bandages to reduce swelling and speed up healing time. A small tube may be placed under the skin to drain excess fluid during recovery. Full results of surgery will be seen several weeks or months after surgery.
