At Facial Aesthetic Concepts, we specialize in procedures designed to improve our patients’ appearance and self-confidence. For many men, this improvement is possible through the treatment of male breasts, a condition known as gynecomastia. The National Institutes of Health estimates that 65 percent of men between the ages of 27 and 92 experience some degree of breast enlargement, often leading to embarrassment and lowered self-esteem.
Here at Facial Aesthetic Concepts, our board-certified surgeon Dr. Shain Cuber performs male breast reduction surgery by removing excess breast tissue, fat and skin to restore a flatter and firmer appearance and give you back a more masculine chest contour.
Don’t let enlarged breasts get in the way of your personal or professional life. Request a complimentary consultation with Dr. Cuber today to learn more about your individual treatment options and see how he and his team can give you back the chest you want.

What Is Gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia is a condition causing excess glandular breast tissue in men. The most common cause is an imbalance of the hormones estrogen and testosterone in the body. While testosterone is the hormone that controls male traits, all men produce a small amount of estrogen and all women produce a small amount of testosterone. When a man’s estrogen levels are too high or out of balance, the hormone imbalance may cause an increase in breast tissue.
In addition to hormonal imbalances, there are many other conditions that can result in excess breast tissue. Medical conditions such as obesity, liver or kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, or a lack of proper nutrition can lead to increased breast tissue. Medications such as steroids, anti-anxiety medications, heart medications, amphetamines, street drugs, and even alcohol can also contribute to excess breast tissue.

Best Candidates for Male Breast Reduction
Male breast reduction surgery is a straightforward cosmetic surgery option, but how do you know if you are a good candidate? If you are in good health and relatively normal weight, are bothered by your enlarged breasts, and have tried other alternative treatment options without much success, then male breast reduction surgery can be a good option for you. During your consultation, Dr. Cuber will perform a comprehensive analysis of your body composition in order to create an individualized treatment plan.
Younger men or adolescents may also benefit from the surgical procedure, but because growth is still occurring, a secondary procedure may be necessary down the road. Those with underlying medical conditions can meet with Dr. Cuber to discuss any potential conflicts that could affect surgery and healing.

What to Expect with Breast Reduction Surgery?
Most gynecomastia surgeries are performed using [url] liposuction [url] along with surgical excision of excess tissue. Using local or general anesthesia, Dr. Cuber is able to make small incisions on each side of the chest and carefully remove the excess fat and glandular tissue while gently sculpting a more masculine chest contour that fits your body.
In more severe cases or where there is sagging or stretched skin, more extensive removal of tissue may be necessary for better chest sculpting. Incisions are typically made around the areola or within the natural creases of your chest in order to minimize noticeable incision lines after the procedure.
Your Breast Reduction Recovery and Results
You may be given a compression garment to wear for the first few weeks following your procedure. This helps to minimize swelling and support the tissue as it heals. In most cases, you are able to return to work within a couple of days, but vigorous activity will be off-limits for a couple of weeks.
Male breast reduction surgery can have long-lasting results. Once Dr. Cuber removes the glandular tissue and skin, it’s gone for good. However, certain things can cause gynecomastia to reoccur. If you want to keep your contoured chest, it is essential to follow a healthy lifestyle and avoid significant weight gain. The use of steroids or certain medical conditions can also contribute to the reoccurrence. Before your procedure, Dr. Cuber will discuss the best ways for you to maintain your new look after the surgery is complete.
If gynecomastia is affecting your self-confidence or keeping you from activities you enjoy, male breast reduction surgery may be the solution you are looking for.
